Is this your question?
Michael bought some apples and gave half of them to Jackson
Jackson bought some Pears and gave half of them to Michael
Michael threw away 25 pears that were rotten while Jackson bought for himself another 20 apples
After that the number of pears to apples Michael had were 1:4 and the number of pears to apples Jackson had were 1:2
How many Pears did Jackson buy?
Solution:
At first:
Michael has 8uints of apples (since ratio given was 1:4 for pears: apples at the end)
Jackson has 2 parts of pears (since ration given was 1:2 for pears to apples at the end)
At last
Michael has (1part 25) of pears ( 25 were rotten and thrown away) and 4 units of apples
Ratio is 1:4 ie., 1 unit of pear = 1part 25 > 1 part = 1unit + 25
Jackson has 1 part of pears and (4units+20) of apples (bought 20 more apples)
ratio is 1:2
2parts = 4units +20 > 1part = 2units + 10
Equating both parts
1u + 25 = 2u +10
Therefore 1u = 15,
1part = 40
At first jackson has 2 parts of pears = 2* 40 = 80
Ans = 80
