Hi

Need help for 2009 RGS pr 5 SA2 maths paper 2 no 18

Mr Muhamad has 3 cubical fish tanks of difference size
The length of Tan A is twice the length of Tank B and the length of Tank B is twice the length of Tank C
Mr Muhamad filled 20% of Tan A. 35% of Tank B and 40% of Tank C with water at first
He then decided to pour all the water from Tank B and Tank C into Tank A.
What percentage of Tank A is filled with water ?

Tank B dimension increases by 2 times for each side.

1) So, water from tank C will have 2 x 2 x 2 extra empty space in tank B.
2) Tank B increase by :40% / (2 x 2 x 2)= 5%
3) Tank B now 35%+5%=40%

Repeat the steps for tank A when tank B's water is transferred to Tank A.
final answer : 20% +5%=25%.
