Last month, Daniel had twice as much as much

savings as Sam. This month, Sam saves \$540. As

a result, he now has 5 times as much savings as Daniel.

What is their total savings now?

Last month:

Let Daniel's savings be 2 u and Sam's savings be 1u.

This month:
No change for Daniel so still 2u
Sam's savings now should be 2u x 5 =10 u

Thus, 10u - 1u = 9u ==540

1u==60

Total savings now is 12u = 720
