Ratio of R:K [left]---------- 3u : 1u: 3u-26

Thus,
7u----65 + 26 = 91
1u-----13
No. of kittens left------13 x 3 -26= 13
No. of kittens at first-------13 + 35 = 48
No. of rabbits and puppies left ------13 x 4 = 52
No. of rabbits and puppies at first----48 x 2 = 96
No. of rabbits and puppies sold----96-52= 44

1) There are three times as many blue M&Ms as red M&Ms in abag. After 53 blue M&Ms and 7 M&Ms were eaten, there were 3 times as many red M&Ms as blue M&Ms left in the bag. How many blue M&Ms were there in the bag initially?

2) Keith counted the number of digits that made up the pages number on each page in his storybook. He found that there were 1596 digits altogether. How many pages were there in his storybook?

3) Lynn has 50 rubber stamps and stickers. If she exchanges each rubber stamp with 5 stickers, she will have 78 stickers altogether. How many stickers does Lynn have at first?

4) Gary bought 8 similar pouchers and 3 similar wallets. William bought 3 such pouches and 8 such wallets but he paid \$20 less than Gary. Find the cost of each pouch if each wallet costs \$8.

I need help with these questions..

1)At 1st------B : R= 3p : 1p
Now-----B : R= 1u : 3u
Thus, 1u + 53 = 3p----Eqn 1
3u + 7 = 1p-----Eqn 2
Eqn 2 x 3---------9u + 21 = 3p-----Eqn 3
Compare Eqn 1 and 3, we have----------8u = 32
Thus, 1u = 4
Blue at 1st= 4 + 53 = 57

Ans: 57

2) Nos 1 to 9-----9 digits
Nos. 10 to 99 -------90 x 2 = 180 digits
Nos. 100 to 999 -----900 x 3 = 2700 digits

1596 - 180 - 9 = 1407
1407 divided by 3 = 469
469 numbers from 100-----------568

Ans: 568 pages

3) Assume all 50 are rubber stamps

50 x 5 = 250 stickers
250 - 78 = 172
172 divided by 4 = 43

Check: 43 + 7 x 5 = 78

Ans : 43 stickers

4) 8P + 3W = 3P + 8W + 20
Thus, 5P- 5 W = 20
1P - 1W= 4
1P = 12

Ans: \$12
