The ratio of Alan's money to Bob's money was 2:1.
After Alan saved another \$60 and Bob spent \$150, the ratio became 4:1.
How much money did Alan have at first?

Use units and parts

Ratio at 1st----2u:1u
Ratio after----4p:1p

2u + 60 = 4p----(1)
1u - 150 = 1p----(2)

(2) x 4---- 4u - 600 = 4p----(3)

Compare (1) and (3), we have
2u + 60 = 4u - 600
2u = 660

Ans: \$660
