Can somebody help me solve these questions?
Q1:A cake shop had some tarts to sell.4\5 of them were pineapple tarts and the remaining were blueberry tarts.After 5\8 of the pineapple tarts and 2\3 of the blueberry tarts were sold,there were 979 tarts left.How many tarts were sold?
Q2:Alvin,Ben,Chris and David shared the cost of the gift.Alivin gave $270,Chris gave 1\3 of the total amount,while David gave 2\9 of the amount.If Ben gave $40 less than Chris,what was the total cost of the gift?

Ratio of P:B4 : 1 = 24: 6
Units of P left3/8 x 24u= 9u
Units of B left1/3 x 6u = 2u
9u + 2u = 11u979
1u = 979/11= 89
Total units sold30u  11u = 19u
19u89 x 19 = 1691
Ans: 1691 tarts
Q2:Alvin,Ben,Chris and David shared the cost of the gift.Alivin gave $270,Chris gave 1\3 of the total amount,while David gave 2\9 of the amount.If Ben gave $40 less than Chris,what was the total cost of the gift?
Let the total cost be 9u
Chris3u
David2u
Alvin + Ben4u
Since Ben has $40 less than Christ, this means
Ben3u  40
Thus,3u  40 + 270 = 4u
3u +230 = 4u
1u= 230
9u = 230 x 9 =2070
Ans: $2070
