Q13:
change fractions into same denominator: 2/5 = 6/15 an 2/3 = 10/15

Original:
________________________________________
M |________________________________________|

______________________
B |_____________________|

Ben's money can be divided into 15 equal units (or 15u)

Case 1: after giving 6/15
_____________________________________________________
M|_________________________________________|_____6u____|
:--------------------- $64 ----------------------------------------------:
__________
B|__________|.....6u...........:

Case 2: after giving 10/15

________________________________________________(6u + 4u)__________
M|_________________________________________|_____10u________________|
:-------------------------------------------------- $144 ----------------------------------------------:
_____
B|_____|.............10u...........:

(4u + 6u)

$144 - $64 = 4u +4u
8u = 80
u= $10

Ben had 15u = 15 X 10 = $150

Q15:
A:B ---> 6:1
B:C ---> 3:5

Since B is common, change the ratio A:B to be 18:3 (x3)

a) B:C:A is 3:5:18

b)

3 parts = 286.38cm2
1 part = 286.38/3 cm2
26 parts = 286.38/3 x 26

= 2,481.96 cm2

(Answers looks weird...hope it is correct)

Hey Sudhar,

Your answer to Q15(b) is marked wrong becos it was not answered correctly ( and exactly ) according to the question ( which stated your answer must be in nearest whole number ).

Hence, it should be 2768 cm2.

Trust this clariifies your doubt.

Cheers,
Edward
