Hi, pls help to solve this question, thanks.

Mrs Kwan received \$4 for every box of chocolate sold.
In addition, she would received an extra \$15 for every 12 boxes of chocolate sold.
If she had received \$3040, how many boxes of chocolates did she sell in all?

Hey there,

Following pls find the worked solution.

<Group method>

For every 12 boxes sold:
(4 x 12) + 15 = 63

Given that Mrs Kwan received \$3040, we have ...

3040 ÷ 63 = 48 groups ( of 12 boxes )

Amount received = 48 x 63 = \$3024
Remaining amount = 3040 - 3024 = \$16

Given each box sold, Mrs Kwan received \$4. Hence, we have ...

Number of boxes = 16 ÷ 4 = 4

Hence total boxes = (48 x 12) + 4 = 580

Trust this helps.

Cheers,
Edward
