Hi everyone! I am having problem solving this question. May you please help me with clear workings?

Carrie spent 1/6 of her money on a VCD player. She gave \$9534 to her mother an dhad 1/4 of her original sum of money left. How much money did she have at first?

Solution:
Spent 1/6 on VCD + Gave \$9534 + Left 1/4 = 1 whole

Fraction for amount gave to mother is
1whole - (1/6 + 1/4) = 1 - 5/12 = 7/12

Therefore,
7/12 -------- \$9534
1/12 -------- \$9534/7 =\$1362
12/12------- 12 x \$1362 = \$16344 (at first)
