Hey Sundar,

The worked solution for Q14(b) was provided in earlier post dated 22/6/12 (found on pg 7 as of today, 24/7). Kindly refer to that post/thread.

Revision:
<29 July> - The following worked solution is for Paper 2 Q13 ( Not Paper 1 - Question different from what was posted in attachment by Sundar). As for the solution to Paper 1 Q13 kindy refer to my latest post below.

Heres the worked solution for Q13 ( which is fairly straightforward).

*** - buffer space for alignment purpose

A***********B***********C
16*********12**********14

<(3/8) from A poured to C>
A remaining: (5/8) x 16 = 10, i.e. 6 poured to C.

10*********12**********20

<(1/3) from B poured equally to A and C>
B remaining: (2/3) x 12 = 8, i.e. 4 poured equally into A and C. So A and C would get 2 each.

12*********8***********22

<(4/11) from C poured into A>
C remaining: (7/11) x 22 = 14

C (at end) = 14 litres

===================

Trust this helps.

Do let me know again if theres any clarification.

Cheers,
Edward

Hey Sundar,

Thank you for pointing this out that the worked solution provided earlier on this post to Q13 is not exactly the one you were asking for. I was thinking that Q13 is also from Paper 2 - the same as Q14(b). Anyway here's the worked solution and explanation for Paper 1 Q13.

=======================

D (HC - 2way) = 68 x 2 = 136 km
D (CH - 1way) = 136 ÷ 2 = 68 km
68 ÷ 17 = 4 intervals
in 4 intervals, there are only 3 pickup points as shown below:

** - buffer space for alignment purpose
C: Convention Center
H: Hotel
P: Pickup point

C***P***P***P***H
|------|-----|-----|------|

Hence, answer (c) - the same as Answerkey.

=============================

Trust this helps and is clear to you.

Anything else, pls do let me know again.

Cheers,
Edward
