Hi,
I cant solve this question, kindly help me to solve with working solution(ans : 174kg).
Container A and Container B have the same shape and mass. 7/8 of container A and 2/3 of container B are filled with oil. The mass of Container B with its contents is 9/10 the mass of Container A with its contents. The total mass of the two containers with their contents is 570kg. Find the mass of the empty container.

Hi Jessica,
Following pls find the worked solution:
A = 10u; B = 9u
Total (A+B ) = 19u > 570
1u > 30
A = 10u > 10 x 30 = 300 kg
B = 9u > 9 x 30 = 270 kg
A + (7/8) Oil = 300 kg  (1)
B + (2/3) oil = 270 kg  (2)
Given that A,B are identical, we have ...
(1)(2):
(7/8) oil  (2/3) oil = 300  270 = 30
(5/24) oil = 30
(24/24) oil = 30 x (24/5) = 144
(2/3) oil = (2/3) x 144 = 96 kg
Substitute this in (2):
B + 96 = 270
B = 270  96
= 174 kg
