The ratio of Ahmad's cards to Benny's card was 3:4. After Ahmad bought another 9 cards and Benny lost 18 cards, the ratio because 3:2. Find the total number of cards ahmad and Benny had at first.

At first, Ahmad has 3 units and Benny has 4 unit. (ration 3:4)
After, Ahamd has 3U+9=3*(1U+3), So Benny has 2*(1U+3)=2U+6 (ratio 3:2 )
Because Benny lost 18 cards, so 4U-18=2U+6, 2U=18+6=24, U=12
So at first Ahmad has 36 and Benny has 48.

Another possible solution:

Tabulate the info as below:

A | 3units | +9 | 3 parts |
B | 4units | -18 | 2 parts |

(change the parts to the same number)
A | 6 units | +18| 6 parts |
B | 12units| -54 | 6 parts |

A |<--------6u---------->|---(+18)----|
B |<--------------------------------------|----------(-54)--------->|
||||{----------------------------12u----------------------------------}

6 units -----> 18 +54 = 72
1 unit -------> 72 / 6 = 12
Total --------> (3 + 4)units x 12 = 84cards at first
