Hi, can anybody help with these 2 questions with working solution?

4) 3/7 of the audience at a concert hall are men. 3/4 of the remainder are women and the rest are children. There are 300 more women than children. How many people are there at the auditorium altogether?

7) Bala spent 1/9 of his salary on an oven and 3/8 of the remainder on a refrigerator. He saved the remaining \$2500.
(a) How much did he spend on the oven?
(b) How much did he spend altogether?

Hey Jessica,

Following pls find my worked solutions:

Q4

M: (3/7)
W: (3/4) x (4/7) = (3/7)
C: (1/7)

W - C = 300
3u - 1u --> 300
2u --> 300
1u --> 150

Total = 7u --> 7 x 150 = 1050

=============================

Q7

O: (1/9)
R: (3/8) x (8/9) = (3/9)
S: (5/9)

5u --> 2500
1u --> 500

(a)
O = 1u --> \$500

(b)
Total spending = O + R = 1u + 3u = 4u
4u --> 4 x 500 = \$2000

===============================

Trust the above helps.

Do let me know again if these do not agree with your Answerkey or if there's any clarification.

Cheers,
Edward
