Hi, can somebody please help explain to me step by step how to solve this question.

Helmi and Indra shared some marbles in the ratio of 1 : 4. Helmi bought 18 more marbles while Indra lost 18 of his marbles. Now the two boys have the same number of marbles. How many marbles did they have at first?

Using model method.

After model :

H (1U) (-18)
I (1U) ( 18) (+18)

For I = 3U = 18 x 2 = 36
1U = 36/3 = 12
5U = 5 x 12 = 60

Is 60 the answer?
