Q. 9 Helen and Jane went shopping with a total amount of $184. After Helen spent 1/3 of her money and Jane spent 4/7 of hers, they had the same amount of the money left.
How much money did Jane have at first?
Thx.

Let me try...
184 / 23u = 8
Jane = 14u x 8 = $112
Am I right?

Make the "left quantity" (H 2/3 & I 3/7) equal (6parts)
H left 2U x 3 = 6parts
I left 3U x 2 = 6parts
So H 3U x 3 (total) = 9parts
So I 7U x 2 (total) = 14parts
14parts + 9parts = 23parts
Hope you get my point.
