Q30 : Kindly refer to the test paper for diagrams. Anyway its as follows:-

ABCD is a rectangle with Length 17cm and breadth 10cm. What is the greatest number of 2cm square that can be cut from the following rectangle?

My solution is: Area of rectangle: 17x10=170
Area of 2cm squares = 2x2=4cm
Using 170 divide by 4 which gives me 42r2, so anwer is 42
but answer is 40.

Someone pls explain! thanks

Hi, on length side 17cm can only accomodate 8 pieces of 2cm. On breadth side, 10 cm can accomodate 5 pieces of 2cm. so 8x5=40 pieces in total. :-)
