Hi there,

Following pls find my explanation and worked solution.

Let initial/original number of children be (1u).

<before>

<-1u->
|-------| --> (1u)

<after 1 child joined>

<-1u->
|-------|<1>| --> (1u + 1)

Cost per child (before) = \$11
Cost per child (after) = \$10

Since cost of present remains unchanged, we have ..

1u x 11 = (1u + 1) x 10
11u --> 10u + 10
11u - 10u --> 10
1u --> 10

Original number of children = 1u --> 10

==============

Trust this helps.

Do let me know again if there's further clarification.

Cheers,
Edward
