hi Jessica,

There are around 15 methods and concepts that one should be aware of and knowing how to apply them will definitely help you to resolve at least 80% - 90% of the problems. Having said so, this also comes along with consistent and frequent practices.

Following pls find my worked solution:

<Common Factor> method

105: 1 3 5 7 15 21 35 105
175: 1 5 7 25 35 175

Given that there were more than 30 pupils,

exact number of pupils = 35 (common factor of 105,175)

============

Trust this helps.

Do let me know again if there's further clarification.

All the very best & good luck,
Edward

It is a Lowest Common Factor question

5 | 105 175
7 | 21 35
| 3 5

So, the answer is 5X7 = 35 pupils and each pupil gets 3 cookes and 5 sweets.
