Xishi and Raju were each given some money.
If Xishi spent \$25 each week and Raju spent \$75 each week,
Xishi would still have \$1350 of her money left when Raju had spent all his money.
If Xishi spent \$75 each week and Raju spent \$25 each week,
Xishi would still have \$150 of her money left when Raju had spent all his money.
How much money did Xishi receive?

Thank you.

Hi Tping,

Following is my worked solution.

<1st IF>
X : R
25 : 75
1 : 3

X |---|<----------------- 1350 ---------------->|
R |---|---|---|

<2nd IF>
X : R
75 : 25
3 : 1

X |---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|<-- 150 -->|
R |---|---|---|

***** <--------- 1200 ---------->

From the above 2 models and using <Gap & Difference> method, we have ...

8u --> 1200
1u --> 1200 รท 8 = 150

X = 1u + 1350 --> 150 + 1350 = \$1500

==========

Trust the above helps.

Do let me know again if this is different from your Answerkey or if theres further clarification.

Cheers,
Edward
