Hi everybody! I'm stuck with this maths question. May you help me? Please show your working clearly using tabulation method.

Qn 1. The coffee in a container can fill 20 cups of 12 glasses. If 5 cups and 4 glasses have been filled with the coffee, how many more glasses can be filled with coffee?

Hey Shirley,

Think theres a typo error here. 1st statement should read as:

The coffee in a container can fill 20 cups or 12 glasses.

Following is the worked solution:

20C = 12G

1C = 1/20 coffee
1G = 1/12 coffee

5C + 4G = (5/20) + (4/12) = (1/4) + (1/3) = (7/12) coffee

Remaining coffee = (5/12)

Hence, 5 more Glasses can be filled with coffee.

======

Trust this helps.

Do let me know again if this is different from your Answerkey or if there's further clarification.

Cheers,
Edward
