Hi All,

Janis bought some ice cream sticks. When Lilin bought 3 times as many ice cream sticks as Janis, she had 55 ice cream sticks more than 1/2 of what Janis had bought. How many ice cream sticks did Janis buy?

Thanks for your reply.

dear Jlen and all,
This is an edited solution, based on feedback received of my careless mistakes, which my failed modem prevented earlier corrections. Many thanks to all who feedback.

.............-----------------------------------------
Lilin.......|.......|.......|.......|.......|.......|.......|......................6 units = 3 times Janis's
.............-----------------------------------------
Janis.....|.......|.......|......................................................2 units [so that you can half it]
.............--------------
.....................<------------------------------->......................this is what Lilin has more than Janis, which is 5 units

therefore, 5 units ---> 55 sticks
and so, 1 unit ----> 11 sticks
So that, Janis bought 11 x 2 = 22 sticks.

Hi Jo,

Thanks for the reply.
The answer key is 22.
So I guess the model should be interchanged for Lilin and Janis
as Lilin bought 3 times as many ice cream sticks as Janis.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Regards,
Jlen

I have edited my solution based on feedback received. Please see the edited solution above. My apologies for my careless mistakes, which i couldn't correct earlier due to my failed modem, as well it was the Lord's Day yesterday.

Many thanks,
