Hi everybody! I'm stuck with this maths question. May you help me? Please show your working clearly using distance line method.

Qn 1. Tom dropped a special ball from a building 16m high. Each time the ball hit the ground, it bounced up half as high as it fell. Sam caught the ball when it was 1m from the ground. What was the total distance travelled by the ball?

Hi Shirley,

Following pls find my worked solution:

Q10

1st drop:
16m
1st bounce:
8m
2nd drop:
8m
2nd bounce:
4m
3rd drop:
4m
3rd bounce:
2m
3rd drop:
2m
4th bounce:
1m

Total Distance (travelled by ball):
16 + 8 + 8 + 4 + 4 + 2 + 2 + 1
= 45 m

=========

Trust this helps.

Do let me know again if this is different from your <Answerkey> or if there's further clarification.

Cheers,
Edward
