Hi All,

Pls help me with the below questions.

1.With the sum of money that Trina has,she can buy either 32 egg tarts or 24 curry tarts.If right now she has already bought 12 egg tarts and 9 curry tarts,how many more egg tarts can she buy with her sum of money?

2.There were 38 children at a party.1/3 of the girls and 1/4 of the boys did not wear spectacles.Given that there were 26 children who wore spectacles,how many girls were there at the party?

3.There were 67 marbles in a box.2/5 of the black marbles and 3/7 of the red are small marbles.Given that the remaining 39 marbles are big ones,how many black marbles are there altogether?

Jlen

Hey Jlen,

It will be much appreciated if you can provide the <Answerkey> for verification next time , where possible. Thank you.

Following pls find my worked solutions:

Q1.

1E = (1/32)total
1C = (1/24)total

12E + 9C
= (12/32)total + (9/24)total
= (3/8)total + (3/8)total
= (6/8)total
= (3/4)total

Remaining money
= (1/4)total

NUmber of egg tarts that can be bought
= (1/4)total ÷ (1/32)total
= (1/4) × 32
= 8

=========

Q2.

B + G = 38 -- (1)
(2/3)G + (3/4)B = 26 -- (2)

(2)x12:
8G + 9B = 312 -- (3)

Eliminating B:

(1)x9:
9B + 9G = 342 -- (4)

(4)-(3):
9G - 8G = 342 - 312
G = 30

=======

Q3.

B + R = 67 -- (1)
(3/5)B + (4/7)R = 39 -- (2)

(2)x35:
21B + 20R = 1365 -- (3)

Eliminating R:

(1)x20:
20B + 20R = 1340 -- (4)

(3)-(4):
21B - 20B = 1365 - 1340
B = 25

=======

Trust this helps.

Do let me know again if this is different from your <Answerkey> or if there's further clarification.

Cheers,
Edward
