of lollipops. Amirah had 36 lollipops more than 1/3 the total number of lollipops. Gastle had
1/5 the number of lollipops Joe had and Sharifa had 5 lollipops less than Gastle. How many

Hey <Jlen>,

Following is my worked solution:

J = (1/3)total - 5
A = (1/3)total + 36
G = (1/5)J
= [(1/5) × (1/3)total] - 1 = (1/15)total - 1
S = (1/15)total - 1 - 5 = (1/15)total - 6

Total = J + A + G + S
= (1/3)total - 5 + (1/3)total + 36 + (1/15)total - 1 + (1/15)total - 6
Total - (1/3)total - (1/3)total - (1/15)total - (1/15)total = 36 - 5 - 1 - 6
(15/15)total - (2/3)total - (2/15)total = 24
(3/15)total = 24
Total lollipops = (15/15)total = 24 × (15/3) = 120

=========

Trust this helps.

Do let me know again if there's further clarification

Cheers,
Edward.
