Hi Jessica,

I believe this question is from Rosyth 2012 Prelim Q17.

Following is my worked solution:

<Contributions of P,J,B>
P: 25%
J: 30% of Remaining = (30/100) × 75 = 22.5%
B: 100 - 25 - 22.5 = 52.5%

<Cost of present increased by 20%>
B: \$100.80

52.5% = 10080
100% = (10080 / 52.5) × 100 = 19200 = \$192 {cost of present after increase of 20%}

(a)
Original price of present = 100%

120% = 192
100% = (192 / 120) × 100 = \$160

(b)
At the end,
J = (22.5 / 100) × 192 = \$43.20

==========

Trust this helps.

Do let me know again if there's further clarification.

Cheers,
Edward
