Hey <geniuskids>,

Following is my worked solution:

Q16.

<Spent>
\$5 : \$10
2 : 1

Amount spent:
(2u × 5) + (1u × 10) = 280
10u + 10u = 280
20u --> 280
1u --> 14

\$5: 2u --> 2 × 14 = 28
\$10: 1u --> 14

<before>
\$5 : \$10
1 : 3

<spent>
\$5: -28
\$10: -14

<after>
1 : 5

Use <Cross-Multiply> method here ...

(1u - 28) / 1 = (3u - 14) / 5
5 × (1u - 28) = (3u - 14)
5u - 140 = 3u - 14
5u - 3u = 140 - 14
2u --> 126
1u --> 63

(a)
Number of \$5 notes (at first)
= 1u --> 63

(b)
Total Amount (at first)
= (63 × 5) + (3 × 63 × 10)
= 315 + 1890
= 2205

Amount left:
= 2205 - 280
= \$1925

=========

Trust this helps.

Do let me know if there's further clarifications.

Cheers,
Edward
