Kuro
Q1. Mrs Tan bought some forks and spoons in the ratio of 5:2. Each spoon cost 80 cents more than each fork. She spent $172 altogether and the amount she spent on the forks was $28 more than the amount on the spoons.
a) How much did she spend on the forks?
b) What was the cost of each spoon?
Q2. Mory had 40% more stamps than June. Clare had 20% fewer stamps than Mory. Then Mory and June gave Clare some stamps. As a result, Clare had 75% more stamps than before and June had 24% fewer stamps than before. In the end, Clare had 58 more stamps than Mory.
a) How many stamps did June give to Clare?
b) What percentage of the total number of stamps did Clare give have in the end? (Give your answer correct to 1 decimal place)

Hey <Kuro>,
Note: Questions are similar to earlier thread.
Following are my worked solutions:
Q1
<Spent>
F <28>
S
Given total amount (F+S) <Spent> is $172, we have ...
2u > 172  28 = 144
1u > 72
(a)
F <Spent> = 72 + 28 = 100
S <Spent> = 72
(b)
<Qty>
F : S
5 : 2
F:
5u > 100
1u > 20
S:
2u > 72
1u > 36
Given each spoon(S) cost 80 cents more than each fork (F), we have ...
in the same 1u of S and F, the amount difference is ...
36  20 = $16
1600 ÷ 80 = 20
Hence, number of F or S is 20 (1u)
Cost of each S = $36 ÷ 20 = $1.80
======
Q2.
**  for alignment purpose
M **: J : C
140 100
100 **** 80
M : J : C
7 ** 5 ****  (1)
5 ***** 4  (2)

M : J : C
(1)x5:
35 25
(2)x7:
35 **** 28

35 : 25 : 28
<Before>
M : J : C
35 : 25 : 28
<After>
C: (175/100) × 28u = 49u
J: (76/100) × 25u = 19u
Given that this is an <Internal Transfer> process, total number of stamps M, J, C had <After> is the same as <Before>. So we have ...
M: 88u  68u = 20u
M : J : C
20 : 19 : 49
Given Clare(C) had 58 more stamps than Mory(M) in the end, we have ...
C  M = 58
49u  20u > 58
29u > 58
1u > 2
(a)
J gave C:
25u  19u = 6u
6u > 6 × 2 = 12
(b)
% of stamps C have <After>:
(49u/88u) × 100 ~ 55.7% (round off to 1 dec)
