Hi, could anyone pls help with this question :

Ali was given 0.18 litres of cough mixture by the doctor. He had to take 10ml of it every 4 hours. How many days would he take to finish the cough mixture?

May I know why is the answer 2 5/6 days and not 3 days.

I got 3 days 0.18 litres = 180ml
Then,u take 180 divided by 10 (I do this because Ali took 10ml of medicine,we want to know how many times he took 10 ml of medicine) Ans:18
Next, the question says that Ali took it every 4 hours so 18 times 4 =72 72 divided by 24 =3
i cant get 2 5/6.sorry.

Hi,

I think i figure out the trick of the question.
When Ali received the medicine, he would have to take the first dose.
That means that he would need to take 7 doses for the first day and 6 doses for the second and so on.

Therefore No. of doses = (180ml / 10ml ) - 1 = 17
No. of hours = 17 * 4 = 68 hours
68hours / 24hours(Per day) = 2 5/6
