The question ask the pupil to quote a sentence.
My girl quoted the correct sentence which was rather long with all the correct punctuation. the only mistake she made was copying the word 'visited' as 'visted'.
she was given 0 mark. total mark for this question is 2.
can anyone advise if this is fair marking

I think this is not an issue of fair or not. Should be an issue of harshness.
If not fair, should be a case of two people having the same answer, but one person actually gets more marks than the other. That will be unfair.

I think is not really so fair. As you said, total marks is 2 marks right?
So the teacher should minus at least half mark or 1 mark.
No teacher will be like this unless has other mistakes.
Please check with your girl again whether are there any more mistakes from the sentence.
