Three teams A,B and C participated in a competition.
There were 34 pupils in Team B and C.
If 22 pupils were not in Team B and 28 pupils were not in Team C, how many pupils were there altogether in the three team ?

Any idea ?
Does it mean that there is a total of 34 pupils in B and C or B has 34 pupils and C has 34 pupils ?

Thanks in advance.

22 - not in team B, that means in team A & C
28 - not in team C, that means in team A & B
34 in team B & C

If you add all together, you get 2 x (A + B + C) = 22 + 28 + 34
therefore (A + B + C) = 1/2 x (22 + 28 +34)
