# KooBits alternative for P4–P6 Maths — when the habit loop isn't the problem

*(Disclosure: this page is written by Test Paper, one of the alternatives discussed. Every factual claim about KooBits was re-verified on KooBits' own pages on the date shown per claim; corrections welcome at support@test-paper.info.)*

KooBits has earned its position as one of the most widely used daily-practice engines for Singapore primary Maths, and its core craft — turning daily maths practice into a habit kids don't fight — is genuinely the best in the market. Daily challenges, coins, tournaments, story-style content: if your child currently does *zero* voluntary practice, KooBits solves that problem better than we do, across four subjects.

## What you're buying, verified

At verification (2026-09-26), KooBits Home Premium costs S$17.99/month billed annually — about S$216/year — **per subject**, with a 7-day trial that takes a card. All four subjects across P1–P6, a parent app with proficiency reports (per KooBits' support documentation, last checked 2026-08-05 — that page was unreachable on re-verification), and a question bank the vendor puts at [100,000+, aligned with the MOE curriculum](https://www.koobits.com/math).

## Where it stops short

The honest limits we'd flag as a competitor — judge for yourself:

- **It reports weakness; it doesn't chase it.** The parent app shows proficiency and trouble spots, which is real information. But the daily loop is engagement-first, not diagnosis-first: there's no up-front placement diagnostic that maps the whole syllabus, and practice isn't organised around systematically closing the weakest concepts first.
- **No advertised retention re-testing.** Nothing on KooBits' site describes returning to a mastered topic weeks later to check it survived. In our view that's the difference between "practised a lot" and "still knows it in November" — the year-end exam tests the second one.
- **Per-subject pricing adds up.** Maths + Science + English is roughly three subscriptions.

## When Test Paper is the better fit — and when it isn't

If your question is "how do I get my child to practise at all?", KooBits is a strong answer and we won't pretend otherwise. If your question is "**which topics are weak, and did the fixes hold?**" — the question that gets urgent from P5 onwards — that's the job Test Paper was built around: a free 15-minute diagnostic across every MOE topic, practice aimed at the weakest concepts, spaced re-tests days later, and a weekly parent report with the evidence. Free, maths-only, P4–P6.

Some families run both: KooBits for the daily habit, Test Paper for the map and the retention proof. There are worse problems than a child who practises twice.
