Best Maths practice apps in Singapore (2026) — an honest comparison
Disclosure first: Test Paper — the site you're reading — is one of the products below. We think a comparison written by a participant can still be useful if every factual claim is dated, sourced, and correctable, and if we tell you honestly where the alternatives are stronger. Facts below were re-verified on the vendors' own pages on 2026-09-26 unless a claim says otherwise; email us corrections and we'll fix them.
Many families arrive at this comparison searching for an "AI maths tutor". Worth knowing: the products below take genuinely different approaches — live human tutoring, chat-style helpers, adaptive question engines, and (ours) diagnostic practice with retention evidence. The label matters less than the mechanism, so we compare mechanisms.
| The alternatives | Test Paper | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | S$8–372.50/mo depending on product | Free during early access |
| Subjects | Up to 4 subjects, some to JC2 | Maths only, P4–P6 |
| Daily-practice habit loop | KooBits and Practicle lead here — genuinely stronger engagement design | No gamification layer |
| Exam simulation with AL scoring | PSLE Alex — timed mocks in MOE 2026 format | P6 mocks in PSLE format |
| Retention re-testing | Mostly not advertised; Geniebook has partial calendar-based worksheets | Spaced re-tests days later |
| Parent reporting | Often gated behind a higher tier | Free weekly report |
The short version
- Tightest budget, want structured practice: Test Paper (free) or Matholia (US$8/mo).
- Want a child who enjoys daily practice, multi-subject: KooBits — the most polished habit loop in the market.
- Want live human teaching wrapped around the software: Geniebook (premium price) or LearnBuddy (tutoring by the minute).
- Want exam simulation with AL scoring: PSLE Alex — its mocks are its best feature.
- Want adaptive maths practice with parent reports at mid price: Practicle.
- Want proof that weak topics actually got fixed: that's the specific job Test Paper was built for — retention re-tests days later, and a weekly evidence report, free.
Feature comparison
| Product | Price (verified 2026-09-26) | Subjects / levels | Finds weak spots? | Re-tests retention? | Parent reporting |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Test Paper | Free (fair-use caps) | Maths, P4–P6 | Yes — 15-min diagnostic + continuous | Yes — spaced re-tests days later | Free: dashboard + weekly report |
| PSLE Alex | Free tier; S$19/mo; S$59/mo | Maths, English, Science (+Chinese beta), P1–P6 | Yes — "weak-spot" mapping | Not advertised | Gated behind S$59/mo Premium |
| KooBits | ~S$216/yr per subject | 4 subjects, P1–P6 | Report-based | Not advertised | Parent app included |
| Geniebook | S$372.50/subject/mo (published hybrid plan; others via sales) | 4 subjects, P1–JC2 | Yes — worksheet personalisation | Partial — fortnightly revision + 30-day decay worksheets | Parent app included |
| Practicle | S$168–388/yr | Maths, P1–P6 | Yes — continuous adaptive | Not advertised | Included in all paid tiers |
| LearnBuddy | S$39–149/mo | 4 subjects, P1–P6 | Weekly AI reports | Not advertised | Higher tiers |
| Tutorly | Free tier; S$49/mo | Multi-subject, P1–JC2 | Adaptive personalisation | Flashcard scheduling (Anki-style) | Basic usage tracking |
| Matholia | US$8/mo (annual) | Maths, K–Year 6 | Not advertised | Not advertised | Not advertised |
Notes: "Not advertised" means we found no such feature on the vendor's site at verification — it may exist unannounced. Geniebook's published price is the hybrid online-plus-centre plan; online-only pricing requires contacting their sales team.
A product other roundups still list: several 2026 "best AI tutor" articles rank Klara (ohklara.com) and quote a S$49/month price. We've left it out because it no longer appears to exist: as of 2026-09-26, Verisign's RDAP registry returns HTTP 404 for the domain (first observed 2026-09-17), and DNS lookups return NXDOMAIN. If you've seen it recommended, that recommendation is stale.
How to choose
Ask one question: what problem are you actually buying a fix for? If the problem is motivation — a child who won't practise — the game-style engines (KooBits, Practicle) and live-human options (Geniebook, LearnBuddy) attack it directly, and honestly, better than we do. If the problem is information — you don't know which topics are weak, and you don't know whether last month's fixes held — that's the problem Test Paper exists for, and we'd argue no paid option above answers the second half ("did it stay fixed?") as directly as a free retention re-test with a weekly report.

- Geniebook Singapore alternative (P4–P6 Maths) — what the premium price buys, and what it doesn't
Geniebook wraps live teachers and centres around an adaptive worksheet engine, at a premium, sales-led price. An honest comparison for families deciding if it's worth it. - KooBits alternative for P4–P6 Maths — when the habit loop isn't the problem
KooBits is Singapore's most polished daily-practice engine. An honest look at what it does brilliantly, where it stops short, and when a free diagnostic-first alternative fits better. - PSLE Alex alternative — finding weak spots is the start, not the finish
PSLE Alex and Test Paper both promise to find your child's weak spots. The honest differences: mock-exam simulation, parent-report paywalls, and what happens after the gap is found.
